Gentiana Acaulis Mixed Cultivars

This mixture of stemless gentian cultivars offers low evergreen mats and exceptionally large upright trumpets held almost at soil level. Seedlings may flower in midnight blue, cobalt, violet, pale blue or occasional white, often with a contrasting white or green-spotted throat. The intense colour and oversized blooms make Gentiana acaulis one of the defining alpine plants of European mountain meadows. In a cool trough or rock garden the plants slowly broaden into permanent cushions, but they demand humus-rich soil, reliable moisture, sharp drainage and protection from hot, drying conditions.
