Geranium Yesoense Var. Nipponicum

Geranium yesoense var. nipponicum is a compact Japanese cranesbill with sharply divided, toothed foliage and open pink flowers strongly traced with darker veins. The blooms rise above a bushy clump in summer, attracting bees and combining naturally with ferns, grasses and woodland-edge perennials. Leaves may colour warmly in autumn before the plant retreats for winter. Hardy and adaptable, it performs in sun or partial shade but is particularly effective in cool, moisture-retentive soil where its refined foliage and clear floral markings can be appreciated.
