Geum Coccineum

Geum coccineum is a cheerful Balkan avens forming a clump of softly hairy, lobed leaves and upright stems carrying brilliant scarlet-orange, saucer-shaped flowers. The display begins in late spring and can continue well into summer when faded blooms are removed. Compact enough for border fronts and larger rock gardens, it also works beautifully beside paths or in cottage planting, where bees visit the open flowers. Hardy, dependable and easy to combine, it prefers fertile soil that retains some moisture but does not remain waterlogged through winter.
