Gladiolus Huttonii X Tristis

This unusual hybrid combines the brilliant colouring of South African Gladiolus huttonii with the elegant, night-scented heritage of G. tristis. Seedlings may produce slender winter-growing plants with graceful spikes in shades of red, orange, yellow, cream or intermediate tones, sometimes carrying green striping or evening fragrance. Each plant may differ in height, flower shape and scent, making the batch particularly valuable for selection. Best grown under cool glass, the corms need moisture through winter and spring followed by a warm, completely dry summer rest.
