Heliopsis Helianthoides Var. Scabra

Rough oxeye is a robust North American perennial with sturdy upright stems, coarse dark green leaves and a long succession of golden yellow, sunflower-like blooms. Flowering from midsummer into early autumn, it brings height and dependable colour to prairie schemes, wildlife gardens and mixed borders, while strong stems are useful for cutting. Bees and butterflies visit the open discs, and seed heads can be left for birds and winter structure. Hardy, adaptable and tolerant of clay, it flowers most freely in full sun with moderate moisture and occasional division.
