Heuchera Pulchella

Heuchera pulchella is a rare miniature alumroot confined to the Sandia and Manzano Mountains of New Mexico. Small rounded leaves form tight basal tufts, while slender stems carry one-sided racemes of tiny pinkish-white flowers held in reddish-purple calyces. In the wild it clings to limestone cliffs in high montane conifer forest, where cool air and rock fissures protect its roots. The compact habit and delicate summer bloom make it an exceptional trough or crevice plant for collectors. Cultivated seed helps reduce pressure on its restricted natural populations.
