Hypoxis Hygrometrica

Hypoxis hygrometrica, the golden weather-grass, is a small Australian geophyte with fine grass-like leaves and bright yellow, six-pointed flowers held on slender stems. The blooms open most fully in sunshine and close in dull or wet weather, giving rise to the weather-related common name. An underground corm allows the plant to retreat during unfavourable periods and return when moisture and warmth improve. Native to seasonally moist grassland and open ground across south-eastern Australia, it is a charming pot or trough subject with delicate scale and clear colour.
