The Siskiyou iris is a scarce Pacific Coast species restricted to a small area of southern Oregon and northern California. Evergreen fans of glossy dark green leaves surround one or two large spring flowers in cream to golden yellow, each fall prominently netted with purple or reddish-brown veins around a deeper yellow signal. It grows naturally in dry pine woodland and meadow openings, combining woodland elegance with unusually warm colouring. Best in humus-rich, free-draining soil and dappled light, it is a refined species for specialist iris collections.
