Iris Halophila

Iris halophila is a hardy spuria iris of saline meadows, river margins and damp grassland from eastern Europe across Central Asia. Tall stems carry several summer flowers in pale cream, yellow or deeper golden shades, often marked with darker veining, above narrow upright leaves. Its ability to tolerate salt and seasonal moisture gives it unusual value for coastal gardens and difficult damp ground. The robust rhizomes slowly form architectural clumps, combining the elegance of a species iris with exceptional resilience in full sun and fertile, moisture-retentive soil.
