Lathyrus Belinensis

Lathyrus belinensis is a rare annual sweet pea discovered near Belin in southern Turkey. Slender climbing stems carry unusual flowers combining yellow, orange and reddish tones, a colour range scarcely seen in the genus and highly valuable to sweet-pea breeders. The blooms are lightly scented and appear above paired leaves and curling tendrils during summer. Fast growing and floriferous in full sun, it is both a botanical curiosity and an important genetic resource. All pods and seeds should be treated as ornamental and not eaten.
