Ligusticum Lucidum

Shining lovage is a handsome southern European mountain perennial with a compact clump of finely divided, glossy green leaves. Tall branching stems rise in summer carrying broad umbels of numerous tiny white star-shaped flowers, creating an airy architectural display above the polished foliage. The open heads attract bees, hoverflies and other useful insects and can also be cut for naturalistic arrangements. Native to mountain slopes and open woodland, Ligusticum lucidum is hardy, adaptable and most effective in a sunny or lightly shaded border with good drainage.
