View'Marhan' is a historic Martagon lily derived from Lilium martagon and the yellow-flowered L. hansonii. Tall stems rise through broad whorls of leaves and carry many nodding, strongly recurved flowers in mahogany, reddish purple and muted golden tones, usually marked with darker spots. The result is a stately woodland candelabra with the vigour of a hybrid and the graceful proportions of a wild lily. Long lived once settled, it performs in sun or partial shade and has played an important role in the development of later Martagon hybrids.
