Limonium Platyphyllum

Broad-leaved sea lavender forms a substantial basal rosette of leathery green leaves and a broad summer cloud of tiny lavender-blue flowers on intricately branching stems. The airy inflorescences appear to float above the foliage and are outstanding for fresh bouquets and dried arrangements, retaining both shape and colour for months. Native to south-eastern European steppe and coastal ground, Limonium platyphyllum tolerates drought, salt and poor soil once established. Its transparent habit is ideal among grasses, silver foliage and bold late-summer perennials.
