Lotus Maritimus

Lotus maritimus, formerly widely known as Tetragonolobus maritimus, is a compact perennial pea with clear yellow flowers and distinctive four-winged pods. The broad lower petal gives the bloom a toothed appearance, inspiring the old common name yellow dragon's-teeth. It occurs naturally in open grassland, coastal meadows and seasonally damp places across Europe and western Asia. Neat foliage, unusual fruits and a long flowering season make it a rewarding plant for a sunny border edge or wildlife garden with lean, well-drained soil.
