Blackfoot daisy is a compact North American perennial forming a rounded mound of narrow grey-green leaves and masses of small white daisies with golden centres. The flowers open from spring into autumn in warm conditions and often release a light honey fragrance, while the dark, foot-shaped bracts beneath the heads inspired the common name. Native to limestone slopes, desert grassland and rocky plains of the south-western United States and Mexico, it thrives in heat, drought and poor soil. It is superb for gravel gardens, troughs and sunny containers with perfect drainage.
