Mimulus Cupreus

Mimulus cupreus, now accepted as Erythranthe cuprea, is a Chilean monkey flower with bright copper-orange to brick-red trumpets held above soft green leaves. The lower lip may be marked with yellow, darker red or fine spotting, producing the expressive face-like pattern behind the common name. Individual blooms are large for the plant's compact size and continue through summer when moisture is reliable. Native to wet ground in southern South America, it is excellent for pond margins, boggy containers and cool bedding schemes, where seed-raised colour variation adds extra interest.
