Moltkia Intermedia

Moltkia × intermedia is a rounded evergreen subshrub with narrow dark green leaves and terminal clusters of brilliant deep blue, funnel-shaped flowers. The intense colouring and compact woody framework make it a superb plant for a sunny wall, gravel garden or limestone trough, where the blooms create a striking late-spring display. It is an artificial hybrid, historically also listed as Lithodora × intermedia, so seedlings may differ in habit, leaf width and flower shade. Lean alkaline soil, full sun and protection from winter wet preserve its dense, long-lived form.
