Ornithogalum Seeds (10 varieties)
ViewGreen-flowered galtonia, now botanically Ornithogalum viridiflorum, forms a clump of blue-green strap-shaped leaves and arching late-summer stems hung with pale green bells. The cool, translucent flowers have an understated elegance and provide unusual colour when most border bulbs have finished. Native to South Africa and Lesotho, it is a summer-rainfall species that appreciates fertile soil and regular moisture while growing, followed by a drier winter rest. In mild gardens it can remain outside beneath a deep mulch; elsewhere it is an excellent large-container bulb.
