Paeonia Daurica Subsp. Coriifolia

Paeonia daurica subsp. coriifolia is a Caucasian peony formerly familiar in gardens as P. caucasica. Broad divided foliage forms a rounded clump, often emerging with bronze tones, and carries single bowl-shaped flowers in glowing crimson, carmine or deep rose during spring. Golden stamens provide a brilliant centre, while the substantial leaflets remain handsome after flowering. Native to the western and central Caucasus, it is exceptionally hardy and thrives in deep humus-rich soil. A sheltered position and freedom from root disturbance encourage a long-lived, steadily improving specimen.
