Brilliant, pure sky blue flowers held on strong stems on vigorous spreading clumps blend magnificently with herbaceous plants and low growing shrubs and conifers. The medium to large flowers open in great profusion over a long period from spring to late summer and autumn.
Derived from garden forms of Viola × wittrockiana, pansies are valued for their tolerance of cool conditions and extended flowering season. Plants form compact, low-growing clumps with soft green foliage, followed by freely produced blooms over many months. When grown from seed, flower colour will centre on blue shades but may vary in depth and intensity, giving a natural, informal finish rather than uniform blocks.
Best grown in sun or partial shade in moist, well-drained soil, pansies perform particularly well in cooler weather and are suitable for autumn, winter and spring display. Regular deadheading helps extend flowering.
