Papaver alboroseum, now accepted as Oreomecon alborosea, is a delicate Beringian alpine poppy with compact rosettes of softly hairy, blue-green leaves. Slender stems carry crinkled flowers in white to pale shell pink, often deepening towards the petal edges around a bright golden centre. Native to cold northern Pacific mountain and coastal regions, it is adapted to long winters, intense summer light and a brief growing season. Its restrained colouring and miniature habit make it a choice plant for a cool trough or alpine house with gritty humus and reliable moisture.
