Papaver Orientale 'Royal Wedding'

‘Royal Wedding’ is a magnificent Oriental poppy with large, pure white, tissue-paper flowers, each petal dramatically marked by a purple-black blotch at the base. Strong stems lift the bowls above a clump of bristly, divided grey-green leaves in early summer, and the central seed capsule remains sculptural after the petals fall. The foliage may retreat after flowering and reappear later in the year. Bold yet elegant, this hardy perennial is outstanding with dark foliage, grasses and blue salvias. Seed-raised plants may reveal attractive variations on the white-and-black theme.
