Patrinia Triloba

Patrinia triloba is a compact Japanese woodland perennial with handsome palmately lobed leaves and branching summer stems topped by broad sprays of small, fragrant yellow flowers. The airy heads bring light to partial shade and attract numerous small pollinating insects, while the foliage often turns clear yellow in autumn. Native to mountain grassland and woodland in central Japan, it forms a spreading but manageable clump in cool, humus-rich soil. Its soft colour and relaxed outline make it an excellent companion for ferns, hostas and late woodland perennials.
