Penstemon Gracilis

Slender beardtongue is a graceful North American prairie perennial with narrow leaves and upright stems carrying loose clusters of lilac, violet-blue or soft purple tubular flowers. The open floral arrangement gives the plant a light, meadow-like character, while the pale-lined throat directs bees towards the nectar. Native to grasslands and open woods across the central continent, Penstemon gracilis combines excellent cold tolerance with a preference for lean, well-drained soil. It is ideal for prairie planting, gravel borders and wildlife gardens where it can renew itself gently from seed.
