Penstemon Mensarum

Grand Mesa beardtongue is a Colorado endemic celebrated for some of the clearest cobalt-blue flowers in the genus. Upright stems carry showy tubular blooms above compact rosettes of glossy blue-green leaves, which often turn reddish orange in cold weather and provide winter interest. Restricted in the wild to western Colorado’s Grand Mesa region, it is both botanically distinctive and highly garden worthy. Drought tolerant once established, it excels in sunny rock and gravel gardens, attracting bees and hummingbirds while remaining neat and evergreen.
