Penstemon Purpusii

Snow Mountain beardtongue is a rare miniature penstemon confined to the Klamath Mountains and northern California’s North Coast Ranges. A low woody base carries small, often folded lance-shaped leaves and short hairy stems of purple-blue tubular flowers, usually brightened by a white throat. In the wild it occupies rocky ridges, open slopes and high forest clearings. Reaching only around 20 cm, Penstemon purpusii is perfectly scaled for a trough or alpine house and has genuine conservation interest when raised from responsibly sourced seed.
