Persicaria Virginiana Var Filiformis

Persicaria filiformis is an elegant Asian woodland perennial with broad green leaves, often marked by a dark maroon chevron, and extraordinarily slender red flower spikes. Tiny flowers are spaced along the wiry stems like beads, creating a fine vertical accent from late summer into autumn. The species has long circulated under the name Persicaria virginiana var. filiformis, but is now recognised independently. It is ideal for cool partial shade, where the patterned foliage forms attractive ground cover and the thread-like blooms rise lightly among ferns and hostas.
