Petrocoptis glaucifolia is a rare cliff-dwelling subshrub confined to limestone outcrops in north-western Spain. Tight tufts of fleshy blue-green leaves emerge from rock fissures and carry delicate pale pink flowers with notched petals. After flowering, the ripening stems bend towards the cliff and help place seed into protected cracks, an adaptation to life on vertical stone. Its restricted range and specialised habitat give the species conservation interest. It is an exceptional trough or wall plant for experienced growers able to provide calcareous grit, cool roots and perfect drainage.
