Phlomis Lanata

Woolly Jerusalem sage is a compact evergreen shrub from Crete, forming a rounded mound of softly felted grey-green leaves. In summer, upright stems carry tiered whorls of deep yellow, hooded flowers, creating a strong architectural pattern above the silver foliage. The blooms are attractive to bees, while the dry seed heads remain decorative through winter. Drought tolerant and naturally suited to rocky Mediterranean ground, Phlomis lanata is excellent for gravel gardens, coastal planting and sunny containers, provided it receives shelter, full light and sharply drained soil.
