Phytolacca Icosandra

Phytolacca icosandra is a bold tropical American pokeweed with stout reddish stems, large oval leaves and long upright racemes of small white to pink flowers. These develop into closely packed, glossy purple-black berries that create a dramatic late-season display and attract fruit-eating birds. The plant can reach impressive proportions in warmth, bringing an exotic, architectural quality to a large container or conservatory border. Every part contains potentially harmful compounds, so it must be handled with care and kept away from children, pets and edible crops.
