Primula Seeds (57 varieties)
ViewThe Kew primrose is a historic hybrid that first appeared at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, from a cross involving yellow-flowered Primula floribunda and P. verticillata. Broad spoon-shaped evergreen leaves form a substantial rosette, while upright stems carry several whorls of fragrant, bright yellow flowers in late winter and early spring. The plant became important in early studies of chromosome doubling and hybrid fertility. Tender in cold gardens, it is best displayed in a cool greenhouse, where its scent, layered flower stems and horticultural history can be enjoyed.
