Primula Veris Hybrids

These Primula veris hybrids combine the nodding, fragrant flower clusters of the wild cowslip with a broader garden palette. Seedlings may range from classic golden yellow through cream, orange, apricot, red and bicoloured forms, often with darker eyes or flushed petal backs. Strong stems lift the blooms above wrinkled green rosettes in spring, where they provide valuable early nectar for bees. Hardy and long lived in cool grass or open woodland, the plants can naturalise gently and create a varied colony with an old-fashioned meadow character.
