Rhexia Virginica

Virginia meadow beauty is a graceful North American wetland perennial with reddish square stems, narrow green leaves and vivid four-petalled flowers in pink to magenta. A curved cluster of bright yellow stamens projects from each bloom, creating a striking contrast and attracting specialist pollen-collecting bees. Flowering from midsummer into early autumn, Rhexia virginica thrives in bogs, wet meadows and sandy pond margins where the soil is acidic and permanently moist. It is an elegant choice for a naturalistic bog garden, combining delicate flowers with rich stem colour.
