Romulea camerooniana is a tiny but brilliantly coloured African crocus relative found across high mountain grasslands from the Drakensberg northwards to East Africa, Ethiopia and Cameroon. Large flowers, often magenta around a yellow centre with white and blue feathering, sit close above fine leaves and appear immense beside the 5-12 cm plant. It naturally inhabits rocky outcrops and moist seepages at altitude. The combination of broad geographic range, alpine scale and vivid patterning makes it an exceptional pot-grown collector's bulb.
