Romulea Rosea

Romulea rosea is a widespread and highly variable Cape species whose flowers range from white and shell pink to deep magenta. Most forms carry a purple zone around a yellow cup, creating a bright, eye-like centre above the narrow leaves. Plants may remain tiny or become unexpectedly tall according to provenance and growing conditions. Some small-flowered forms have naturalised aggressively outside South Africa, so this attractive bulb should be grown responsibly in containers or controlled beds and prevented from seeding into surrounding land.
