Rosa Carolina

The supplied name Rosa Carolinis is treated as Rosa carolina, the Carolina or pasture rose of eastern and central North America. This low, suckering shrub forms wildlife-rich thickets of nearly thornless stems and glossy foliage, then carries fragrant single rose-pink flowers with bright golden stamens in early summer. Rounded red hips follow and feed birds and small mammals into winter. Hardy, heat tolerant and useful for hedging or naturalistic planting, it also provides shelter and hollow stems that may be used by nesting native bees.
