Salvia Nemerosa Subsp. Pseudosylvestris

Salvia nemorosa subsp. pseudosylvestris is a robust woodland-sage relative native from south-eastern Europe through Central Asia. Broad leaves form a substantial clump beneath thick stems carrying long spikes of deep purple-blue, nectar-rich flowers. It is larger in all its parts than many familiar Salvia nemorosa cultivars and creates a strong vertical accent from early summer, often blooming again after cutting back. Hardy, deer resistant and highly attractive to bees, it performs best in full sun with even moisture and good drainage.
