Sarcococca Confusa

Sarcococca confusa is a dense evergreen shrub with glossy, wavy dark green leaves and tiny creamy white flowers that release an unexpectedly powerful sweet fragrance in the depths of winter. The scent carries far beyond the modest blooms, making sweet box ideal beside doorways, paths and shaded seating areas. Glossy black berries follow and may remain among the foliage for months. Tolerant of shade, pollution and some dryness once established, it also makes a useful informal low hedge beneath trees or against a north-facing wall.
