Sophora Chathamica 'Wiggie Wiggie'

'Wiggie Wiggie' is a remarkable twisted form of coastal kowhai, also circulated as Tortuosa or Golden Twist. Zigzagging, contorted branches create a sculptural framework clothed in crowded pinnate leaves, followed from late winter into spring by clusters of golden yellow pea flowers. The nectar is highly attractive to New Zealand birds, while the unusual branching remains decorative throughout the year. Derived from Sophora chathamica, this selection combines coastal resilience with a characterful silhouette, although seed-raised plants may not reproduce the parent exactly.
