Stipa Barbata Silver Feather

'Silver Feather' is a selected bearded feather grass prized for extraordinary seed awns that may reach 45 cm in length. Silky and silver at first, they soften to cream, twist and curl like loose ostrich feathers above a modest clump of narrow green leaves. The plumes move constantly in summer light and remain beautiful for cutting or drying. Native Stipa barbata comes from dry southern European grassland, so the plant thrives in full sun, lean soil and excellent drainage, where its refined movement is not lost among heavy neighbours.
