Tecophilaea Cyanocrocus

Tecophilaea cyanocrocus is the legendary Chilean blue crocus, producing intense cobalt-blue, white-throated flowers above narrow grey-green leaves in early spring. It is not a true crocus and no genuine Crocus species matches its extraordinary blue. The plant was once believed extinct in the wild after habitat loss and over-collection, but surviving populations were rediscovered in the Chilean Andes. Rare, fragrant and jewel-like, it is best treasured in an alpine house with cool-season moisture, frost protection and a completely dry summer rest.
