Noccaea zaffranii is a vulnerable Greek endemic confined to a small part of the White Mountains of western Crete. This minute high-alpine pennycress grows among pale limestone where its leaves and fruits closely match the surrounding rock, making plants remarkably difficult to see outside flowering. Short stems carry tiny cruciferous blooms before flat seed pods develop. The species occurs within one of Europe's richest concentrations of local mountain endemics, giving responsibly cultivated seed exceptional conservation interest and making exact labelling essential.
