Tithonia Rotundifolia

Mexican sunflower is a fast-growing, heat-loving annual with broad velvety leaves and branching stems that can reach two metres in a single season. From midsummer until frost it produces vivid orange to scarlet daisy flowers around raised golden centres, attracting butterflies, bees and other pollinating insects. The long stems are excellent for cutting and create a bold tropical backdrop for grasses and late perennials. Native to Mexico and Central America, Tithonia rotundifolia flowers best in full sun, warmth and moderately fertile, well-drained soil.
