Tomatillo Verde

Tomatillo plants are more robust than tomatoes and are grown for their husk enclosed fruits. The 1-2 inch diameter fruit can be eaten raw in salads or be made into chutneys, but generally are used to make authentic Mexican green salsa. Pick for salsa when the husks turn brown and begin to open. If left to ripen, the tomatillos become sweeter and more suitable for eating raw.
