Tristagma Leichtleinii

Tristagma leichtleinii is a historic name now generally included within the rare Chilean endemic Tristagma sessile. Tight clusters of bright green leaves surround one to three large white flowers held almost at ground level, each tepal marked beneath by a strong green central stripe. The plant flowers soon after Andean snowmelt around the Santiago basin. Material once known as T. leichtleinii was even thought extinct before later taxonomic work united it with surviving T. sessile, giving cultivated seed unusual conservation and historical interest.
