Tritonia disticha is a summer-growing South African corm with fans of sword-shaped leaves and tall, branching spikes of pink to rosy-red flowers. The blooms are arranged in a two-ranked pattern reflected by the name disticha, and their soft colour gives a lighter effect than the fiery orange of many related Crocosmia. Native to grassland in the summer-rainfall region, it appreciates moisture while growing but rests after the foliage fades. It makes an unusual border or large-container bulb and provides graceful stems for cutting.
