Turritis Glabra

Tower mustard is a tall, slender biennial with a first-year rosette followed by upright blue-green stems clasped by pointed leaves. Small pale cream to yellowish flowers open along the growing tips from late spring, while long narrow seed pods stand almost parallel to the stem and emphasise its tower-like outline. Although widespread globally, Turritis glabra is endangered in Great Britain after habitat loss and agricultural change. It depends on open, disturbed ground for regeneration, giving cultivated seed genuine conservation and educational value.
