Verbascum Sinuatum

Wavy-leaved mullein is a bold Mediterranean plant with a broad winter rosette of deeply scalloped, yellow-green leaves covered in rough star-shaped hairs. In spring and summer, a tall stem divides into a many-branched candelabra carrying numerous yellow flowers. Each individual corolla is short lived, but fresh buds continue opening along the many side branches and keep the candelabra effective for weeks. Verbascum sinuatum thrives on dry roadsides, scrub and stony ground and makes an architectural, pollen-rich plant for sunny gravel gardens.
