Viola Sulfurea

Viola odorata 'Sulfurea', also known as 'Sulphurea' or Irish Elegance, forms a loose semi-evergreen mat of dark green, heart-shaped leaves. Relatively large, sweetly scented flowers open from early to late spring in pale primrose, creamy apricot and soft sulphur-yellow tones, an unusual palette among sweet violets. It is ideal beneath deciduous shrubs, where winter and spring light encourage flowering before summer shade protects the foliage. Compact, fragrant and hardy, it also supplies delicate stems for small posies.
