Zephyranthes Araucana

Zephyranthes araucana, formerly Rhodophiala araucana, is a high-country rain lily native from central Chile into southern Argentina. Slender leaves accompany solitary or paired, widely flared flowers in red, pink or yellow above stems around 12-25 cm high. Plant World Seeds first encountered and collected this striking species during its 1994 Chilean expedition, where it grew on rocky slopes at roughly 1,700-1,900 metres and endured dry, snow-covered winters. Rarely cultivated, it is a rewarding alpine-bulb project for full sun and sharp drainage.
